Rewind... How did I get to San Francisco?

The last day in Washington took us to see the Bill of Rights, the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence at the National Archive. We weren't allowed to take photos. Shame, as it was a truly awesome thing to see and I would love to have been able to show you guys and to have had them for my own memory. Oh well. It was rad. After that, we went to the Museum of Natural History. The exhibit I was most impressed with, was the Evolution of Mankind. We were on limited time, so I couldn't take in as much as i would have liked to but nevertheless, I was fucking impressed. I now have a lot of photographs of skulls.

You could take a photo of yourself with a machine that would transpose your face into an image depicting what you would look like as a Homo Heidelbergensis man. Who lived between 700,000 and 200,000 years ago in Africa, Europe and Asia.

Seeing a real Architeuthis specimen was epic too. This one was caught in a fisherman's net off the coast of Mexico.

Also this Coelacanth (pronounced See-La-Kanth) was cool. This one was caught in 1938, which is epic cause scientists thought they became extinct with the dinosaurs 65million years ago.

We found the moose! Look at the moose! Look!

Anyways, DC was a pretty cool time. We walked a lot, saw a lot. Yeah... it was cool. We jumped on our plane to SF and found it to be a fairly empty flight, so we asked the dude sitting with us if he wanted to bail up the back, which he did. That gave us enough space to spread out and lounge the next 6hrs on route. Morty smashed 5hrs playing his new Civilization iPhone game. He is now one with the earth. He's traveled, met a good girl and found Civ for iPhone. I just tried to sleep. I had some success but when we got in, we dropped our shit off in our dorm and hit the town.

First we found a cheap Mexican eatery and scarfed $5 burritos and drank Negra Modelo beers. Onward forth, we find a small bar in North Beach. The others played pool and I sat at the bar chatting to another Aussie and his Californian mate. The Aussie (Rory) was flying home after eight months away. He's studying his PHD in Chemistry and was here working. It was at this bar and the events following that lead me into my first impressions of San Francisco... It is a weird town.

Ever conscious of my budget for this trip, I am now seeing benefit in leaving this country sooner, rather than later. Plus, if I were elsewhere and walking this many miles per day, I'd be doing some good towards contributing to good health. Here, its a marathon to get through most meals. Anyways, back at the bar, we were having an awesome first night, right off the bat of an early morning, a visit to two different museums and a six hour flight while gaining three. I've got a bunch of stories that'll have to be discussed when I get back... they're just too intense and crazy to formulate in this kind of forum. At least for me, as they're happening. I have to tell you guys about the phd chemist dude, the window and how we came to meet Robert; the dude. Oh shit, and the pirate. Hehe, I'll tell you about the pirate. We were on our "tour of SF" with the old hippy and we were, or, Morty was confronted by a homeless dude, grouching for a cigarette. The dude was a full on pirate in looks and voice but wearing dirty and scrubbed modern clothing."Aarrve ya got a cigarette?" he barked! "nah, I'm out" Morty responded, shocked, put off and amused. "You're lyin, ain't ya..? Yarv got a cigarette!" he said with croaking pirate tone. San Francisco is the wharf. The stop and go point for hundreds of sailors. I like to believe that this guy is a product of the bloodline. Morty pulled out his empty packet to prove to him (out of respect for the piracy bloodline) it was empty, when he found a half cigarette bunched up at the bottom of his packet and offered it up. He snatched it up with another "aarrgh!" and hobbled off "rarr"ing and so forth. I turned to Morty and said "did you just get attacked by a pirate?" as we walked off adding more to the SF story file. Anyways, back at the bar...
